The Joys of Marriage - Pet Peeves No. 1

Our differences are starting to show themselves. Enjoy a few...

Jon's pet-peeves:
  • That I HAVE to make the bed before I will get in it. If we don't make it in the morning, I will make it before I go to sleep.
  • That I filled up our Britta water with the already running hot water from the tap. He would have preferred for me to use the cold water filter in the sink.
  • My hair is everywhere and clogs the sink.

Kim's pet-peeves:

  • That Jon immediately un-tucks the sheets after I make the bed and throws all the covers to my side.
  • That I thought I was being "green" by using water that was already running while he was doing the dishes. Let alone the Britta goes directly into the frig where it is stored, so when you do drink it, it's cold water.
  • That my hair sheds BECAUSE it's long and Jon won't let me cut it. AND, who would ask if I intentionally put my hair down the sink? Do I want a clog sink too? Um, no.

Oh marriage :)

I've Become a Follower

I've officially become a follower of two different blogs today (Ben and Rylee's in Sri Lanka, and Oli's in Glendora, CA). Knowing that I'll be checking their blogs more often, I'm sure people will somehow find their way onto mine.

With that being said, I should probably keep mine up to date. So, now the goal is to find something interesting to write and keep you entertained!

Jonny's younger cousin (Oliver or Oli for short) flew in from England last Wednesday night and will be staying with us for the next 2 weeks. He will be interning at Grace for the next 3 months and then back to England he goes. Ian (my father-in-law) has only told me wonderful things about Oli, and so far so TRUE! He's 21 and a total cutie - you know the girls are already going crazy. Cute boy plus accent, um yes please! (I mean, I did marry his cousin for similar reasons) - :)

Currently I'm watching Extreme Edition Home Makeover. I don't know what it is about this show, but every time I watch it I can't help but cry! The real emotion people feel is contagious and all of the sudden, my emotions overwhelm me. Haha, that's so funny to think about because I don't really cry very often to begin with (other than movies of course). The freaking guy proposed during this episode! Talk about tears. Oh geez.

What else? Jonny and I have plans to go to Vegas with my parents this weekend (Thursday - Saturday) and I cannot wait. I don't think Jonny or I LOVE Vegas, but we can't wait to be together and away from "life" if that makes any sense. June has been a busy month; we came home from our honeymoon and hit the ground running because Jackie and Scott just got married on Saturday. They are traveling around Europe somewhere and will be for the next week and a half.

I thought July would bring some down time and peace, but it's actually busier than I expected.

Week one: Vegas

Week two: Camping with Co122

Week three: Pool party at the Parker's

Week four: ?? Always something, right?

I guess this is all for now. There will be more to come!

It's Official - I'm a Parker!

It's official!! I am married to Jonny Parker and loving it. Today is my first day back to work and luckily I work from home on Mondays. Tomorrow begins my early AM adventure of commuting to work 3 days a week. I look forward to being with friends again in the office, but do not look forward to feeling super tired at the end of the day.

Tonight I start my first woman's group at Grace Church. I hope this goes well and that I fit in. Typically, at Grace - small groups go on break during summer, but I guess the men's group (mostly husbands of the women for the women's group) decided to keep meeting during the summer, which means the women's group decided to do the same.

Tonight's meeting is to discuss this summer's expectations for our group. I don't really know my place in discussing my expectations to a group I've never been too but hopefully things go well and I get home in time to get some good sleep.

I'll be sure to post wedding pictures once I get them! I cannot wait to see Amber's beautiful art work. She's great at what she does.

Love,
Kim Parker

Should I freak out?

I have 209 people who have RSVP'd "YES" and 17 more people to still respond. Our max is 2oo people. Do you think we'll be okay?

I'm Offically Starting to Lose It.

I haven't been stressed out at all since Jonny and I got engaged, but it's starting to happen. AND, my stress is showing itself in the funniest way - my brain can't remember anything!

I went to my practice hair appointment on Saturday to find out that it's scheduled for NEXT Saturday. At first I was positive that they made the mistake, but today I drove from Corona (where I'm currently house sitting) all the way to Huntington Beach for my final dress fitting for find out that my appointment is NEXT Monday! Two times in one week. Gosh!

Of course being forgetful makes me frustrated, which is never a flattering trait. Man, I just need to find some time to relax before the wedding comes, because the last thing I want is to get sick on our honeymoon - it seems like that happens to so many people because they just "go, go go" before the wedding and their honeymoon is the first time they stop to breathe- and they get sick!

If you read this, pray for me.

Love,
Kim (a normal bride)

How do you say no?

How do you tell someone that their child is not invited to your wedding when other children are?

It's almost over...

It's kind of weird to think that I'll be getting married about less than 65 days and also sad because I feel as if I planned my whole wedding in one month. Our location has been picked, we confirmed out reception details, the bridesmaids have their dresses, we're going to order tuxes this weekend, I’ve been in communication with some people about flowers, and just bought knickknacks this week: bubbles for our departing, flower baskets, unity candle, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I know there is a ton more to do, but all the "big" and "fun" part of planning my wedding seems to be over. Now we just have to run around and get things like our marriage certificate and Jonny's green card ;).

Again, to make sure everyone knows that I'm more excited to be married to Jon than my wedding day, I am. BUT, that's not to say that I haven't thought about my wedding day FOR EVER, because I have (I'm totally one of those girls even if I don't seem like it). I mean, I'm only doing this once, right? (and I don't say that as an ignorant Christian). I only get to plan my wedding one time and it's sad to think that it's almost over. I guess it will make more sense if you know that I love to plan events. This is just like the ultimate one!

Does this make sense to anyone? (All the girls reading this say "YES" and the guys are wondering what the heck I'm talking about).

On another note, I can't wait to walk down the aisle and see Jonny standing on the other side. You know, he's the first person I could ever see on the other side before? Yeah, I've tested some other people (in my mind), but none passed, not until Mr. Jon Parker!

So I know I'm not the only one who has ever had this fear, but I'm afraid I won't cry and then all of the sudden, that's going to suggest to everyone else that I don't really love Jonny. I know, the pressure us girls put on ourselves. Well I was listening to the song that I want to walk down the aisle to the other day and my eyes teared up. Ha, I hope it happens on May 29th!! :)

Bubbles

Today I took Avery and Kirby to Party World with me to pick up their flower girl baskets, the unity candle, and bubbles for the guests to blow at the end of our reception.

I need your advice about the bubbles... I would love to have a picture of Jonny and I coming out the chapel into a tunnel of people blowing bubbles- but how does that happen if Jonny and I are the first two people that come out? There is a side room in the chapel that we could go into rather than out of the building, but then what? Get all of our guest outside to blow bubbles just for a picture? Haha. That would be funny.

  • Maybe we could just have the wedding party blow the bubbles and reenact coming out to the chapel?
Again, if you have any ideas let me know.

Going to the Chapel of Love

WE'RE ENGAGED!!

When did it happen? Jonny proposed on February 25 at Del Mar Beach.

When are we getting married? We're getting hitched on May 29th of this year and the wedding planning is coming along nice and smoothly... Not too many glitches, which is great.
What am I really looking forward to? Wearing my wedding dress!

I've been looking at billions of different hair styles, but I think I have a consistant theme for the type of style I like.

I just placed my first bid on eBay for a beautiful ivory flower for my hair.

Lets hope that 1) I get it and 2) that it is actually pretty...

I picked out my bridesmaid dresses a couple weeks ago and I'm happy with them. Itried to copy a picture ofthem to post, but I can't copy the image. If you're interested, look at David's Bridal, style number 8585 (Black).

Stay tuned for more details as they come.
